YOU
The Beautiful Women of North Dakota project originated on the cold, stark prairies of North Dakota—an image that may seem the very contradiction of beauty to those who haven’t seen it for themselves. Our goal is to deconstruct the definition of beauty by highlighting women who embody a beauty that can be felt as well as seen. Beauty in action. Beauty that endures.
Let’s not allow modern culture to define beauty—seasonally designating individual attributes as beautiful—luscious collagen-enhanced red lips, and only months later—pale lips that emphasize smoky eyes—all in an effort to sell product. We support women in having the freedom to make their own decisions about using the tools available as they wish, but let’s make it a choice, not a requirement.
Help us spread the word that beauty is a more than what the eye can see.
Our goal is to help you share this with your family, your schools, your communities: to replicate this project all over the world. From Beautiful Women of North Dakota, to Beautiful Women of Toledo, Ohio, or Brownsville, Texas, or Sewanee, Tennessee—from coast to coast and across oceans and continents. You can be part of a local effort wherever you live, using, with our help, the same media that has worked so well to celebrate physical aspects of beauty to remind the world of the deeper meaning of beauty.
Please contact us for more information on how you can be an activist for beauty. We are developing a curriculum for schools. We welcome comments, ideas, and your support.
